Video Game Reviews of World of GooCustomer Review: Fantastic Game Summary: 5 StarsThis is one of the best games I have played in a while. If you like puzzles and logic games the this is a game for you! I highly recommend it.
Customer Review: A game that has to be played Summary: 5 StarsI played their demo recently, and though the game's slick graphics, story, art, etc. blew me away, the physics system did throw me off a bit and had me stuck in the first chapter. At the chance to buy the game at a cent, I decided to actually invest time in the game. It is an absolute joy to see yourself figuring out how to beat puzzles that can seem so hard! A very well-designed game.
Customer Review: Fantastic Game! Summary: 5 StarsWe bought this game for our 7 1/2 year old son. What a fun, intriguing, fantastic game! Really, the graphics are beutiful, the game plays beautifully on a laptop with touch pad, and gosh, I think he might be learning some geometry and physics too (shhh...don't tell him). It's clever, fresh, nonviolent, and promotes problem solving and thinking-out-of-the box. Highly recommend!
Customer Review: A Fresh Take On The Puzzle Genre Summary: 4 StarsWorld of Goo is a puzzle game that brings a unique look and feel to the genre. As with many puzzle games, the story is thin and basically follows the story of the Goo cooperation's rise and fall. The real substance to the game are the puzzles and there is a good deal of verity. Each puzzle consists of the goal of the player having to move a certain number of goo balls from the start point to a tube that collects them, somewhere else in the level. The physics of the goo balls is wonderfully done and feel as if you are actually building with living things that have mass and substance. The flaws of the game consist of the game occasional repeating of puzzle styles and the fact that once you beat the game there is no real replay value, other than attempting to complete each of the 'OCD' achievements in each level. Overall, World of Goo is a wonderfully inventive puzzle game that breathes fresh life into the genre.
Customer Review: An fun, innovative, independent video game Summary: 4 StarsYou've heard of independent film studios and independent music labels. Rarely does an independent video game break through and succeed. The gaming market is flooded with franchises (EA Sports, for example) and copycat video games that essentially provide the same game play, game after game, with only a name change to create the illusion of a difference. World of Goo actually is different.
Working within the puzzle game genre, World of Goo brings together a dry wit sense of humor, excellent music and simple yet appropriate sound effects, a well-designed and good looking world, and a lot of fun. The game play consists of figuring out how to use little balls of goo to interact with the world and reach a goal. The player is introduced to a variety of goo balls that have different properties and engage the world of the game using different physics.
My only complaint is that the game is far too short, but rest assured, it is worth it. After all, the credits consist of four people (not including the special thanks), and this game is truly a huge achievement for such a small staff.
This is one of the best games I've played in five years. I highly recommend it.
