Video Game Reviews of OkamiCustomer Review: One of the best Wii games wasn't originally designed for the Wii Summary: 5 StarsAlright short back story time: Capcom had Okami created for the PS2 by a company that no longer exists. After much support from fans Capcom hired out another company to port the game over to the Wii. Why the begging for the port onto the Wii? The reason was Okami resembles an interactive game (complete with drawing) made before the Wii but all the while wishing for that type of interactive capability. This is the kind of game I wish companies would produce more for the Wii; Okami uses the potential of the Wii mote and nunchuck to help create an interactive experience through a long solid game.
So what type of game is Okami? Most people describe Okami as Zelda-esque. Okami is an action/adventure game with RPG elements. Like any good RPG, players can choose which character aspects to increase, gain and power up different weapons, collect/buy items, and have a large area to explore. Players collect praise and in turn can choose to evolve certain aspects (like more ink/fighting ability, increase life, increase game continues, or money pouch). Originally, your character, Ammy, starts off with only one weapon but later on the game allows three different categories of weapons to choose from with several different weapons in each category. Throughout the game you can sell items and collect money to power up items, help in battle or mini quests, and move quickly from one place to another. Most of the game revolves around exploration and figuring out how to accomplish a task. During the game a player can avoid random encounters but certain fights must take place. Players fight with their weapons as well as draw items/elements to help the fight along.
Good Points:
-Good amount of save points
-Lots of exploration
-Many different mini-games
-Original story
-Japanese mythology
-Long game
-Humorous dialogue
-Bonuses for completing game
Bad Points:
-Takes a while to get a hang of the Celestial Brush
-Can literally see when game messes up (no not sun, BLOOM)
-No ending credits (you-tube it; the credits are pretty cool)
Sadly, Okami is one of the best games that will never get a sequel. The original company Clover broke up. But most importantly, the game just does not sell as much as other games for the Wii (like certain mini-games or big named franchises) and got buried under the multitude of good games for the PS2 (how is it possible to play them all seriously). It may resemble Zelda but Okami does not have the recognizable name. Mostly this game seems to sell from word of mouth. Someone asks about the best games for the Wii and inevitably Okami comes up time and time again.
Customer Review: Awesome! Summary: 4 StarsI found this game to be very fun. In some ways, it's like the Legend of Zelda series only weirder. A couple of the female characters tend to wear clothes that were very revealing, which is why I'm sure it's rated T for teen. My only major problem with it is that there were a lot of cutscenes, otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing about it.
Customer Review: AWESOME!!! Summary: 5 StarsI LOVE THIS GAME!!! It is one of the best games I've ever played. The animation is beautifully done, the battles are fun, but sometimes a little easy, and the characters are colorful and interesting. On top of that the adventures to be had...
SO SO SO MUCH FUN!!!
I had no problems with the controls the only way I can see somebody might have had problems with them is if the sensor bar was smudged up or if the sensitivity needed to be changed.
I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!
Customer Review: The most creative game I have ever seen... Summary: 5 StarsIn my opinion this game is the greatest action-adventure game ever created. Drawing from the Legend of Zelda games, it is a mix of fast paced action, puzzle solving, and platforming immersed in Japanese myths and legends with a deep, engaging story. As the Japanese sun god Amaterasu reincarnated, you play as a wolf with god-like abilities, weapons, and a unique art brush that allows you to stop time and wreak havoc on your enemies. The unique Japanese art style and music enhance the game as you fight demons, giant spiders, and other bosses of epic proportions. A must have for any Zelda fan as well as anyone who enjoys video games casually as it is easy to pick up and learn. For hard core gamers, the amazing story and unique combat system are complimented with a wide variety of side quests, collectibles, and an XP system using "Praise" to level up giving 50+ hours of gameplay. If you like it, spread the word around because Okami does not get near enough credit as it's due.
Customer Review: The Best game I've played in a LONG time Summary: 5 StarsWell long story short I picked up this game a few months ago, then let it sit on a shelf collecting dust. About two weeks ago on a day off I decided to pop it in for the first time. In the last two weeks I've gone several nights with little sleep as I've been so lost in the beautiful world of Okami that I don't realize I should be sleeping until the sun starts to rise...
The art direction is beautiful, the story fantastic however at times a little long winded. The controls work fantastic for the Wii, like they were meant for each other (Okami is a PS2 port). There are a few minor hick ups here and there with the controls and timing sequences that can get frustrating yet the pros far outweigh the cons.
Okami is one of the best titles available on for the Wii...
