Video Game Reviews of Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 3 BundleCustomer Review: Addicting and fun Summary: 5 StarsI have never played DDR before, and I'll admit, I was a bit embarrassed to buy it. (I was prepared to tell anyone I bought it for my niece) I bought it so I had another game that was good exercise (I have the Wii Fit but am a bit bored with it now) and mostly FUN. I brought it home and set up was easy. One thing though - I almost returned it thinking it was broken. On my Wii only the first port worked for the mat to fully function. I had it in the second and it let me select songs with the mat, but didn't register when I was doing steps for the game. Once I did some research online with other people having similar issues, I was able to figure out it was a port issue.
Now for the game - the concept was easy to pick up, especially if you've played Guitar Hero or any other similar game. If you are a newbie like me, even if you think you are "beyond training", trying some of the training lessons is really a good idea. I tried to jump in, but I kept trying to return to the center of the mat, which if you do some training it teaches you not to and the game is much easier in the long run.
Once I got my footing, I just jumped into it and it is a blast! I love that there are real songs and videos on this, it is more fun to dance to the songs you know rather than the ones made for DDR. I would like more though...but I am sure I am not alone on that thought. The workout mode is great too, you can choose by time or calories burned, and you definitely can burn calories with this game. I find that even though I am starting to sweat that I am having so much fun that I keep playing. This is just what I was looking for in a new game! I like that you can use your wiimote and nunchuck to get more active as well.
I am already looking forward to the next one, hopefully with the ability to download more songs.

View larger. | Gameplay As with all DanceDanceRevolution (DDR) games, gameplay in Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 3 consists of the player mimicking as closely as possible the movements flashed on the screen in the form of directional arrows and other prompts. The goal is to do this as best as possible to gain as many points as you can, maintain a healthy "dance gauge" (your life bar) and get a good grade for each dance routine. Yet Hottest Party 3 for Wii sets itself apart from previous versions in this by including new input methods. The game bundle includes the familiar DDR floor peripheral for registering dance steps, which make up the majority of the game actions, and like earlier DDR versions for Wii, also includes Wii Remote and nunchuck support. What is new is the game's Wii Balance board integration. The balance board is an optional accessory (sold separately), and allows for a whole new way to play in workout mode among others. The game also features 2-player local versus multiplayer support, Mii integration and new costume customization functionality and new game modes.
