It is such a fun way for me to exercise. I have it set to count the calories I burn and that encourages me to keep going. Even though I still get "boo-ed" for my poor rhythm, I love it. I have nearly every version of DDR for my PS2 (including the Disney version!), and play them with my kids all the time, so when I saw that my favorite not-sitting-on-my-butt-killing-things game crossed over to the Wii, I jumped at it.
Oh, how I wish I hadn't.
The graphics are indeed better than the PS2 versions, and I suppose the involvement of the nunchuk might be interesting, had not the rest of the game left a bad taste in my mouth. Gone are the Euro- and J-pop style of music I love on the PS2 and the arcade. Instead, you are treated to bad disco tunes and covers of 80s and 90s dance tunes that went out with Milli Vanilli. Your dancer is accompanied by four synchronized dancers that frequently hold their arms out like children playing "airplane" and then run around in a circle.
It all amuses my one year old, but no one else in the family will touch it.
Quite frankly, it strikes me as if the DDR team watched "Moulin Rouge" and "Saturday Night Fever" back to back, did some ecstacy, went to a gay disco to try out their moves, then went back to work and stuffed their experience in a box for your entertainment.
Eagerly awaiting DDR Extreme 3 or whatever else is next on the PS2...

I HAVEN'T USED IT MUCH YET, I PLAN TO. THIS GIVES ME THE EXCERCISE I NEED
AND IT BRINGS BACK THE GOOD OLD DAYS OF MUSIC I USED TO LISTEN TO AND DANCE TO. IT TAKES ALOT OF PRACTICE BECAUSE I'M IN MY 50'S BUT IT'S A LOT OF FUN AND I GET A KICK OUT OF THE THINGS THE GUY SAYS WHEN I DO POORLY AND I SELECT THE SAME SONG AND HE MAKES FUNNY COMMENTS. I ENJOY THAT. IT'S A BOOSTER AND I NEED A GOOD BOOST. THANKS WII NINTENDO!
