Video Game Reviews of Xbox Cordless Precision Controller

Customer Review: Great..... Just Great.
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great controller. I got this as a gift, and It is the best controller I have ever owned. If you play Xbox Live, do yourself a favor and go purchase the wireless headset also.

Customer Review: Worth it, but fyi...
Summary: 4 Stars

The controller worked great during gameplay, but the construction of it leaves a little to be desired. First off, Im not sure why they call it a 'precision' controller since the L and R trigger throws are actually shorter than those of the Xbox Controller S, in fact making it less precise. Theyre higher up on the backside of the controller, making the grip on the controller a little awkward but tolerable. Secondly, the directional pad (the old-school left, right, up, down pad) is very loose and not very solid at all. I think I've been spoiled a little bit by the Nintendo Gamecube Wavebird controllers after having those for about 2 years though, fyi. It might sound like Im bashing the controller a bit, but Id much rather have it than the corded controller. Plus, it includes a rumble feature which the Wavebird does not.

Customer Review: Alright, but not worth the $$
Summary: 2 Stars

I just got this controller hoping to get a complete wireless setup with the headset and such, but no longer. I got to hold it at 'best buy', and it seemed to feel fine with a little getting used to, but I never actually got to play with it. I was quite melancholy after I started playing halo2 @ home, for the a,x,y,b buttons would not respond with a simple push. They must be pressed quite hard for them to respond, which really messes up my gaming experience. Other than that, the D-pad is quite unfixed, but the feel is comme-ci-comme-ca. I'm returning this for a halo 2 headset.

Customer Review: Wireless is the way to go
Summary: 4 Stars

I should have done this a longggg time ago. Playing without cords is fantastic. The controller works great except the buttons require a little more positive action to work. I think they should be more sensitive. On the other hand the D-pad is too sensitive and tends to exhibit this quality when scrolling through a list. Otherwise I would rate this five stars.

Customer Review: Cordless Quality
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought two of these controllers, and I have been using them heavily, mostly playing Burnout 3. I thought the previous version, the bigger one that took 4 batteries, was a good product, but this new model is definitely an improvement, fitting the hand a bit better. Most importantly I have never experienced any problems with the response or wireless signal. This really is as good as a corded controller!

The batteries seem to last quite a while too. I didn't get the 50 hours listed in the product specs, but I did get almost 40, which is still really good in my book. (I was using alkalines. I don't know if it will work with rechargeables, which typically have a slightly lower voltage even when fully charged.)

The only downside that I can see is the difficulty of using the Xbox Live headset. The memory card slot is on the base unit, not the controller itself, so you have to sit near the Xbox to use the headset. If there was better XBL support (a communicator jack on the controller, as another reviewer suggested) I'd give this 5 stars.

Some other reviewers have disliked the button response and the feel of the analog sticks. All I can say is I didn't feel that way. I did notice that the face buttons weren't as sensitive as my stock Xbox controller; by that I mean I had to tap a little harder to get any response at all. But that was easy to get used to and now I don't even think about it. Every brand of controller is a little different, so you'll always notice something like that when you switch.

Unfortunately, I did get to experience Logitech tech support. One of the controllers I bought was dead on arrival. It was clear to me that the controller itself just wasn't working, but I had to explain everything to Logitech tech support and try their fixes. Once those didn't work, they did immediately send me a replacement unit. Getting a dud once in a while is inevitable... what matters is how the company handles it, and I have to admit that Logitech did a great job.

Based on this experience, I am looking forward to getting the Logitech cordless PS2 controllers too.
