Customer Review: Works well, but not the way you thought you wanted it

I purchased the Sega Genesis 2 and 3 standard av cable because I wanted to play my Sega collection again in stereo for the first time. Granted, I know that the Sega CD and Sega Genesis model 1 already have stereo capabilities, but I wanted to be able to take my Sega Nomad and Genesis model 2 and 3 be able to play nice stereo sound for convenience sake. Unfortunately, that's not what I got here.
The cable produces nice and crisp visuals and the sound sounds pretty great, but only on one speaker. That's right, it only sends out the signal to one output in mono.
Originally I had planned to buy a few of these cables, but I reconsidered after this purchase. Good for what it is at a fair price, but since it does not do what it visually shows and claims, more cables would be a waste for my consoles.
If you're just looking for a cheep replacement to play those old games again, this wouldn't be a bad choice if you don't care about the mono issues. For a quick fix to create double sided mono, put the red plug into the white output and keep it in halfway. It created a fake stereo by doubling the mono sound to both sides. That's the only way I can see this purchase valuable. If you wanted mono sound, grab a mono cable instead.
What else can I say though? Grab a Sega Genesis model 1 for the best options, but you'll need a different cable! Good luck.
