Video Game Reviews of Super Mario Galaxy

Customer Review: not very challenging
Summary: 4 Stars

I have a few problems with the game, but small ones.

First of all, I've had the game for a week and have already collected 60 stars. That is a ridiculously fast pace compared to Mario 64. The game presents little challenge in most of its levels. The levels are generally short, and it is easy to collect 10 stars in a single hour if you get on a roll. Not exactly what I would call an epic game. I find myself really getting into a level and enjoying it, and then all of a sudden I see myself right at the star and say, "isn't this just a little too easy?" The pace of the game is too fast. Maybe I am biased, since my favorite game for Wii so far has been Zelda: Twightlight Princess, a game that is very long and which has dungeons that take several hours to complete, but it just seems like this game is not as challenging and LONG as it should be.

With that said, I think the levels are ridiculously inventive, and the graphics are great. The music at times is hauntingly wonderful, and I have a genuinely fun time playing the game, although I am disappointed that it is not more challenging.

Those of you who said that this is the best game for Wii, I have to strongly disagree. Zelda: Twilight Princess is by far the best title for Wii, and probably the best game that has been out since Nintendo 64 launched Mario 64, possibly even better. This is a great game, but Zelda is by far more challenging. The fact that Galaxy is extremely unique is its strength, and I have had a great time playing it, but it is not even in Zelda's league.

Update 12.7.07: I've had the game 3 1/2 weeks now, and I have 112 stars. Some days I don't even play the game, and some days only for about 1/2 hour. The game has become more challenging, but not nearly as tough as Mario 64. Simply put, while the graphics and layout of the game are awesome, it just doesn't present the challenge I expected.

Customer Review: Every Bit as Fun As It Looks
Summary: 5 Stars

I certainly had high expectations for Super Mario Galaxy, but it's even better than I hoped. A Next Generation version of the good ship Super Mario 64. And it seems to overflow with content, promising many hours of play. Slight quibble: The second-player "Co-Star" mode might appeal to some, but having someone else's cursor darting around the screen was distracting to me. Still, the game is so gorgeous, crazy and fun to watch that spectators have a good time anyway. Unbelievably entertaining game, a must have for the Wii.

Customer Review: Flying Mario Fun
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm not incredibly deep into this game yet, but I have finished off a couple of planets and had a good time doing it. What I like most is that it's challenging without being frustrating... yet. I haven't finsihed, so I don't know what's in store for me. I haven't thrown the controller yet, so that's a good thing. This is really what I was hoping for out of a Wii game. I wanted something that was designed to take advantage of the motion sensor, and I'm very happy with the result. The only question I have is where's Luigi?!

Customer Review: The Best Wii Game of 2007, A Must Buy!
Summary: 5 Stars

When Mario arrived you could tell that he is bringing big stuff to his newest and greatest adventure yet. The galaxy is what is the most greatest appeal to this package. Never have you seen or believed the wonder of this game has to offer. When you just start playing you can see that nintendo has not lost its spark with mario. Back in 2000 when the gamecube came out, many people were afraid that mario was going down due to his newest gamcube game, Super Mario Sunshine. But nintendo still has a lot of imagination in their heads. Its just such a indescribable game, Once you buy it, all your questions will be answered. After getting home, i was completly addictive to it, not just by how fun it was, but also how amazing the graphics are. Certantly the best graphics on the wii. And probably best sound track on this consol too. This proves then that this game has all the potential of an amazing game to have. Im also looking forward to super smash bros. brawl in 2008, but to say this year mario has once again token our planet away with his most epic release to date. Im hoping to see it win best game of 2007 and hoping for you to buy it as well, and get all of your money worths the disc. Stop listening to all of us and go play the game for yourself.

Customer Review: This game is just fun.
Summary: 5 Stars

In a year full double and triple A titles, this game might just be the best of the bunch. With the all games out right now I didn't think I would be playing this game till around Christmas. I decided to just try it out before it hit the shelf for the next month. I think I might have to put some other games on hold till I get through this game first.

The gameplay is really innovative and plain fun. The concept of going to galaxies, collecting stars and defeating baddies couldn't have been done more flawlessly and though it can be confusing at times when running around, since you'll be running upside down at times, you will be able adjust in no time.

The graphics while not power house quality are stellar for what they are. This game looks clean and runs smooth. The controls are as tight as you can get and completely innovative. No complicated button presses or control schemes. The Wii Mote and Nunchuk controls handle flawless. This is definitely not a game that will break your brain trying to figure out the controls. Kudos to Nintendo for implementing a new control scheme for the next gen and having a game like Mario to showcase it. This is obviously a must buy for Wii owners and should be a must buy for Video Gamers in general. An instant classic.
