Customer Review: I LOVE THIS GAME
Summary: 5 Stars

I THINK THAT MARIO SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL WAS AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE. WHEN I FIRST RENTED IT, I WAS HORRIBLE. I LEARNED, AND THEN IT CHANGED MY LIFE FOR THE BETTER. I LOVED THE CD FEATURE, AND THE CHALLENGE LIST. I LIKED THE ITEMS IN THE BRAWLS, AND I ADORED THE LEVELS. I ALSO LIKED THE CO-OP SETTING.

Customer Review: Super Smash Bros Brawl
Summary: 2 Stars

I was totally disappointed with this game. Characters are too small and you can't keep track of where you are in the game. I will never play the game again. Wasted money.

Customer Review: Still Great, Over a Year Later
Summary: 5 Stars

I pre-ordered Brawl, and received it within a few days after it came out. It hasn't dissappointed me yet, not even after following it for months on the official site, and at least two delays of the release date. For most people, after following a game and waiting for so long, the actual product usually turns out to be not quite what was expected, but that's not the case here. Over a year later, the game is still just as fun as when I first opened it. The giant cast alone is reason enough to buy it, not to mention all the improvements upon the earlier versions. The photo feature from Melee is back, but this time you can use it whenever you want, with few limitations, you can save videos of your best brawls and mini-games (providing they are under 3 minutes) to send to friends and revisit, and you can even create your own stages (probably one of the best features, though a little underdeveloped).

The story mode is amazingly in depth, and poses quite a challenge even for veteran players (I devoted a decent amount of time to it, and haven't found my way out of the last level yet). An interesting layer is added to this mode in that you can use the "stickers" you have collected to upgrade your characters' stats. Don't worry, purists - there are still plenty of trophies to collect as well. However, the upgrade system seems somewhat tacked on. I haven't bothered to experiment with it, as it is not necessary to upgrade your stats in order to beat the game. Plus, I didn't want to lose stickers if I needed to remove them for any reason.

Side games include an updated and vastly improved Home-Run Contest, a redesigned Multi-Man Brawl, and a complete overhaul of the Target Contest (where there are five standard levels, rather than a different one for each character). All three of these can be played solo and co-op.

Other diversions include your sticker and trophy collections, which allow you to view your collections in a variety of different ways, as well as create scenes with them and take pictures of them to send to your friends.

The stage editor is a great addition, but could use a little work. There isn't a large variety of pieces, and one particular detail that I found somewhat frustrating is that the set of parts is somewhat different for each of the three backgrounds. Also, you can only choose one song for any given custom stage, and you are limited to a certain number of parts (indicated by a meter at the top of the screen, which fills a certain amount for a given part and the size of that part). However, if you use your imagination (or the internet) you can create almost anything.

The battle system is more or less the same, but Final Smashes are a nice touch. The new arsenal of items is great, and both the new items and revamped classics add a certain something that other fighting games lack. You can guarantee that no two battles will ever be the same.

The Wi-Fi modes are some of the best available on Wii. Unlike some games, you can play against anyone, anonymously (like Guitar Hero for example, but not like Animal Crossing), or against friends you have registered with a friend code. Both options have multiple choices so you'll never be bored if there's people online.

Overall, the game is a masterpiece on a disc. There are plenty of other things in it that I haven't mentioned, but why should I spoil all the fun? Suffice to say that anyone who knows anything about Nintendo, even a casual gamer, would enjoy this game and all that it has to offer.
