Video Game Reviews of Wii SportsCustomer Review: A must have for any wii! Summary: 5 StarsIf you own a wii, but for some reason, you don't own this game, you really need to buy this game. It's a blast to play by yourself or with friends.
Graphics-The graphics are OK, but I really feel that they could have better.
Sound-The sounds matched what was going on in the game, so I thought they were really good.
Gameplay-The most popular way to play is probably by playing the basic games themselves. The games are:
1.Tennis-You use the wiimote to hit the tennis ball. Basically the wiimote is the raquet.
2.Baseball-When you are a hitter, the wiimote is the bat. When you're the pitcher, you use the wiimote to throw the ball by throwing the wiimote (never letting go of the wiimote, of course).
3.Bowling-You pretend to roll the bowling ball never letting go of the wiimote.
4.Golf-You point the wiimote to the ground and use it like a golf club.
5.Boxing-For this game you attach the nunchuk and use them by holding one in each hand and punching with each hand.
You can just play the games like that or you can play the minigames that are included, and there are 3 for each sport. They are all very different and fun! I won't explain them all, but they are all variations of the basic games.
Fun-This game is really fun. I almost always use it for parties, and I love playing it alone!
This is a great game, and I definitely recommend that anyone who owns a wii get this game. It's one of the most fun wii games ever!
Customer Review: Wii: Introduction Course Summary: 4 StarsFor me, the best kind of games to come bundled with a system are the games that will showcase what the system is capable of. Wii Sports is that kind of game. While it graphically falls shallow of the capability line, it gives gamers an immediate, hands-on crash course in Wii Console and Remote functionality. Think of it like an introductory class, and once you graduate from that course (Wii Sports is an easy "A"), you'll be well on your way to experiencing a myriad of much bigger and better games.
Being an "introductory course" to the Wii, it succeeds in every way imaginable. Not only will it prep you for bigger games to come, it's easy for anyone to pick up and play. There are some reasons to consider the game for longevity, like going for a perfect game on bowling, or trying for that elusive hole-in-one on golf. However, some of the limitations with the controls and games that are often based on luck (Baseball's outfielders are sometimes bumbling idiots beyond your control) make this a game that's hard to come back to over and over again.
Probably everyone's first experience with a WiiMote was with this game, so a nostalgia factor may play to this game's longevity. But again, I think that most people will want to find more high-octane, graphically charged entertainment out of this system once they've graduated from WiiSports.
Customer Review: Don't expect a real simulation Summary: 3 StarsI bought a Wii console about two weeks ago and Wii Sports came with it. I am not into video games as such and have never played with a Wii before. Of the 5 games I play Tennis the most. Your control for this, (bowling, golf and baseball) is very similar to the flippers on a pinball machine. Imagine your arms being replaced by straight poles connected to your shoulder joints. You have no wrist or elbow action, just the timing of when the ball contacts the pole. Except and embrace this reality and the game can be somewhat enjoyable. There appears to be some random motions as occasionally I serve up an ace without knowing why. I haven't a clue on the depth of my return volley, I do know I can't just hold the "racket" still and have the ball bounce off of it. This results in a complete miss, a non-action. The bowling game is the easiest of the lot as all you do is line up the shot and swing your arm. In baseball hitting the ball I more or less can control if I miss, hit a foul ball or a ball in play. I haven't figured out if one can aim for the bleachers, try and hit a grounder or a short pop up to midfield. To me these occur randomly. You have more control as the pitcher with the ability to throw four types of pitches, inside, across the middle of the plate, or outside. Golfing has similar controls has the pitcher and is the game I play second most often. I haven't figured out the boxing yet although I've won a few times. Since this game came with the console I'm suspecting it is one of the older games for the Wii and that several better adaptations are available now. Since I'm new to the Wii, this game disk gives me the opportunity to learn the basics of how to move. I imagine I'll be finding a better sports disk in the near future. For a newbie like me, this is OK for now.
Customer Review: replacement game Summary: 5 StarsThis was a replacement game for the original that our grandkids lost. It is a really fun and easy game for kids and adults. Our grandkids are 5 and 2 and they both have a great time playing all the games.
Customer Review: Wii Sports Summary: 5 StarsThis was a replacement for the game that was ruined by the boy I babysit. I love all the sports on this game and couldn't live with a Wii without it. Golf, Bowling, Tennis, Baseball and Boxing. There's something for everyone!
