Video Game Reviews of WiiCustomer Review: Sports are a blast for non-gamers. Summary: 5 StarsAfter hearing great reviews from friends and family, I got this for us for Christmas, along with an extra remote and the Wii Fit Plus. I told my mate I'd gotten him something he didn't know he wanted, but would end up really liking. That was exactly the way it was. We are not gamers, just middle-aged people looking for alternatives to outdoor exercise in crummy or cold weather. He loves the tennis. We play each other sometimes, or he plays tennis himself and I use the Fit Plus. Bowling is a hoot (I swear there's a Dude-like avatar) and baseball gives you a pretty good workout (they all do if you want them to). The extra remote is essential if you want to play together.
Everything was packaged perfectly, and surprisingly easy to set up: in fact, it was a snap.
Customer Review: Great fun! Summary: 5 StarsThe Wii is a ton of fun for the whole family! Kids, parents, grandparents.....there's fun competition for each of the games and it gets the family up and moving around!

Customer Review: wii game console Summary: 5 StarsWii game console is great for beginner and experienced gamers. If you want to exercise and not feel like your working then this is the console for you!
Customer Review: Fantastic console! Great for all types of gamers. Summary: 5 StarsWe have had our Wii for about a year and a half now and it is fantastic. This is the 2nd console we've owned (first was the PlayStation One), and we have enjoyed using it since the day we got it.
Out of the box you'll get one Nunchuk and Wii Remote, plus Wii Sports. I suggest you promptly buy at least one additional set of controllers to take advantage of the party/group games, as well as getting rechargeable batteries of the controls. That way you won't have to worry about replacing them so often; just charge them up and you're set.
In terms of games, this system is marketed as a family-oriented, party/group gaming-centric console and as of late, a way of getting your daily exercise. This is certainly true. When family and friends come over, those of whom don't play video games whatsoever enjoy playing the Wii. Wii Sports is always a fun game to start out with, but other good group games are Mario Kart, Wii Sports Resort, and Big Brain Academy (for my family at least). It is certainly a good console if you have more "casual" gamers in your family/group of friends. There are TONS of games out there that cater to that type of gamer, so you'll be able to find the game you're looking for. As far as an exercise system, there are also many, many great Wii games for exercise, including Wii Fit and EA Sports Active. It really depends on what you use the Wii for, though. I don't consider myself a hardcore gamer, nor is my demographic the majority (18 year-old female), but I do enjoy a challenging game every now and then, as well as the more casual ones I could play for a couple of minutes. The Wii fits the bill for me, as far as gaming consoles. Some of the more mature titles for Wii that I've played are Resident Evil 4, No More Heroes, and Red Steel, all which I thought were great games. But some of my other favorites on the Wii are Cooking Mama and Wii Sports Resort. The Wii really offers a lot, and there are some great, more mature titles out there.
As far as controls, I enjoy the Wii Remote & Nunchuk combination. It is comfortable to use with most games and easy to get used to. At times I do miss the traditional controllers, like what the PS1 had, but even my family and friends find the Wii Remote/Nunchuk easy to use. You'll be surprised at how fluid the controllers work for first person shooters, action games, and casual games, depending on how well implemented they are into the gameplay.
All in all, the Wii is great! We don't get to use it much during the school year, but when my family/friends have some time to spare, the Wii definitely keeps us entertained.
Game suggestions: New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, Wii Sports Resort, Cooking Mama, Big Brain Academy, Resident Evil 4, No More Heroes, Just Dance
