Customer Review: Great Idea, but not great

The official controller for Dreamcast, the Sega controller just doesn't hit the mark. There's only 4 buttons on the face (and Start) , and the 2 analog triggers. The controller is excellent for driving games, but playing fighting games is a joke. The d-pad works well, but the analog stick feels very cheap, and the life of the controller won't last more than 6 months.

I don't see how people can even compare this controller to the Dual Shock or the N64 controller. The lack of buttons makes playing 6-button fighting games difficult, even more so since the L & R buttons are triggers. It is difficult to hold a solid grip on the controller and after playing just 30 minutes of Soul Calibur, the tips of my fingers began to hurt. If you're thinking about getting that second controller, I do not suggest Sega's (or even the competitions'). Wait for a decent controller to hit the market.

This is a great controller. It fits comfortably in your hand, and has nicely sized buttons and a greatly sized joystick. This is the best controller!

this controller is the most comfortable controller ever to hit the market. it allows for longer gameplay hours than sony's dual shock or nintendo's 3 pronged controller. the only problem is the lack of buttons, 4 just isnt enough, and can cause problems with game development in the future. game developers claim that the dual shock and even nintendo64's controller dont have enough buttons, and nintendo's have the most buttons out of any home gaming system, with 9 total. this gripe could be that only 8 are easily accesable. Sega already has the best controller ever, and if they remake it with at least 2 more well-placed button, it would be perfect.
