Customer Review: Still my favorite Genesis game. A true classic.

I remember it well it was December 1991 and I was patiently waiting for Christmas. When it came I got an original Sega Genesis system with a built in headphone jack and it came with this awesome new(at the time) game called Sonic The Hedgehog. It reminded me of 1985 when the classic NES system came with Super Mario Bros. Much like that title it set a new standard for platform video games with it's fast paced action,catchy yet quirky music and great controls (A,B and C buttons all made Sonic jump the D pad moved him around and that was about it).
Like Super Mario World, Sonic The Hedgehog was an instant classic but in terms of originality and fun Sonic was even more revolutionary.
The levels were all colorful and easy such as the beautiful Green Hills and Starlight Zone plus the brilliant Scrap Brain levels, but like another reviewer said the best part of this game were the special stages. If you collected all 6 chaos emeralds you get a different ending with Dr Robotnkik stomping on the words THE END.
While other Sonic games like the lock on Sonic & Knuckles cartridge, Sonic CD and especially Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure DX took the Sonic franchise steps and leaps further in terms of graphics and sound the original Sonic The Hedgehog will always be my favorite.

Come on-who DIDN'T ever play this game before? This game has amazing graphics (for a Genesis game, yes it does)and is really fun. After playing it a few times, you get the tricks and beat it, but it's a CLASSIC. This was the beginning of the Sonic the Hedgehog Legacy (although it's falling quickly now). This is what made the word 'Hedgehog' so great. Everybody recognizes the famous icon. I'm sure we've all heard of the famous Sonic the Hedgehog Next Generation 06 glitchy piece of s**t. That will never live up to THIS, not until Sega focuses more on making Sonic what he used to be, maybe restoring his name. I say you should get this game (if you don't already have it),which focuses more on Sonic being that true blue hedgehog we used to love and not a wannabe.Customer Review: An Instaint Classic

The Levels (or Zones as Thay're Called) Are Absolutly Brilliant! Thay're Fun and Colorfull. Thay Have One of The Best Looks For Any Game. The Best Being The Green Hill Zone.
The Music is Absolutly Beautiful. It Brings The Feel To Every Zone To The Boss. The Best Video Game Music...Ever!
The Visuals are Bright and Colorfull. thay're Possible To Keep Childrens' Eyes Glued To The Screen For Hours.
Overall, The Games an Absolute Must-Have, an Instaint Classic.

Customer Review: Second Greatest Sonic Game and The Reason Why Games Can Be As Good As They Are Today

Sonic 1 is,in my opinion,the second best Sonic game ever.The best is Sonic 3.Others would say Sonic 2.Anyway,Sonic 1 was the start of a series that,in it's 90s era,was not only one of the biggest and best series of the platformer genre but of games as a whole.What made the Sonic series great was simple yet utterly imaginative.It was all about attitude but more importantly about speed.Far behind was Mario left in the dust as Sonic zoomed through exhilarating level after level of solid and creative design.Sonic was a needed entry into the gaming market as it ignited memorable competition between the major companies of the industry that could only benefit the consumer.SEGA started great new series after great new series while Nintendo greatly improved,if not perfected,some of their most popular franchises.With the immediate popularity of Sonic 1,SEGA got the necessary level of public recognition to altogether change the landscape of the video game industry with their more mature and more mainstream games.Sony took this mainstream too far,though.Regardless,if it weren't for SEGA it's hard to see Sony or even Microsoft entering the industry as soon as they did,if at all.Customer Review: you don't get much better than this

sonic the hedgehog is AWSOME! it saved sega from defeat at the hand's of nintendo's big, gray box. the speed, music, graphics, and gamplay are all top knoch. it's easy and hard at the same time. it's games like this that make you want to shiver with excitment about what's going to happen next as you play.
if you don't have sonic the hedgehog, you do't have a genesis. simple as that.
