Video Game Reviews of DeBlob

Customer Review: Great game - very little learning necessary
Summary: 5 Stars

My son (6 yrs old) and I (39 yrs old) both love this game. It is easy to start playing, but you'll need to keep building skills if you want to get all the way through it.

Customer Review: A great addition to the Wii.
Summary: 4 Stars

I approached this game with skepticism but after addictively plying it I must say it's really fun. While the idea is simple and the game could be played by people of any age, the challenge lies in getting all the side things done. Overall this is a good game to invest in for the Wii because of the hours of play you'll get from it and the itchy palms you'll get when you think of it.

Customer Review: de Blob Review
Summary: 5 Stars

This game is great for a non-gamer. The moves are easy to pick up, and while the levels can present a bit of a challenge, nothing feels impossible. The graphics are really fun. I would definitely recommend this product!

Customer Review: Not for Adults
Summary: 1 Stars

I tried to rent this game before buying, but it was always checked out from the stores. I happened to find it on sale and decided to go ahead and buy it.
I wanted to like this game after all of the reviews I read about it that said adults would love it too, but this had to simply be the most unfun game that I have ever played. Maybe kids find some type of enjoyment in this, but this game is definitely NOT for adults.
The concept sounded fun, but "the blob" is difficult to control and difficult to make jump to places you want to paint. After you discover mixing colors and finding new prints to paint the buildings...that's pretty much all there is to the game. How long can you really paint the same buildings over and over again and have it still be fun or interesting. The save issues make the game less fun to play as well.
I sold my copy to gamestop and got another game after only 2 weeks.
This game is definitely not worth buying for adults, no matter the price.

Customer Review: Revolutionary Fun! The Sweet Legacy of Jet Grind Radio
Summary: 5 Stars

If you liked Jet Grind Radio, you'll love de Blob, probably the most underrated game for Wii.

The cutscenes that introduce the story and introduce each stage of the game are Pixar-quality. The colorless & militaristic Inkt corporation has invaded the colorful, music-loving land of the Raydians and trapped them into being melancholy Graydians. By using your power to squish bright color wherever you go, you get recruited to liberate the Graydians and restore the funk and fun.

The controls are a little tricky (use the B button!), but there is a lot of opportunity to practice your jumping skills with free play or retrying levels. Indeed, it takes some practice to understand where stuff is, or how stuff works. To advance through a stage, you try to increase your color energy to unlock the gate to the next level or exit and to enable special devices. Completing challenges is a good way to do that, but many challenges are totally optional. Personally, I prefer skipping the harder painting challenges and just painting semi-randomly to free Graydians to advance through the game that way (it's also a good way to get time bonuses). It's fun even in repetition, though, as your painting moves subtly adjust the funky soundtracks, and you unlock more side quests, challenges, awards, music, and party games. The camera settings can also be adjusted, if you like. It's a deep game with casual appeal: I would consider it a must buy.
