Customer Review: Best Workout Game (I've Tried) for the Wii
Summary: 4 Stars

I haven't reviewed any other Wii games, but because I think that this one is such a great workout (and amazing bargain at ~$20) I wanted to give it a review. A couple of boxing workouts and I'm sore for days after (not a bad thing!). I'm only giving it 4 stars because some of the responsiveness is iffy, but that's still ok since you're getting the workout anyway, even if a punch doesn't register. I've pretty much ignored all the extras besides the main cardioboxing training, so I don't have much to say about them, but I've given up on Wii Fit and this is currently my only Wii fitness game.

Customer Review: use your hips not your shoulders
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a good cardio workout program for the Wii. I combine it with EA Active. It's great. Just a tip to those whose shoulders and arms hurts after doing a workout with this program; always use your hips to throw a punch whether it be a jab, cross, upper-cut. Minimize using your shoulders when throwing a punch. Using your shoulders only stiffen your body. By using your hips, you can throw a punch with less effort, and with less energy to burn. Swing your hips as you throw your punch. Let the hips do the swinging of the arm and not the shoulders.

Graphics are so-so but then I think you really don't need good graphics for these types of programs. It's meant to work on your cardio and burn some cals.

Customer Review: This really is not a game-It is a workout system!!
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife wanted something to take the boredom out of excercise. If she did repeated excercise routines, she would become bored very easily.

This was the cure!

This program has a bunch of gym type activities, that change things up on a daily basis, to make sure that you do not get board with the routines.

She loves the punching excercies, and has told me that she switches this up with the other training game we have, to even add more of a different routine.

Customer Review: A Martial Artist's Perspective
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and have cross-trained in boxing, Muay Thai, and other martial arts. Since getting married and having two kids, I have had little time to do anything even closely related to exercise, much less martial arts. From an exercise as well as a martial arts training perspective, this game is incredibly fun and effective, particularly for those who have limited time and resources.

If you are trained in the proper form for throwing the various punches used in this game, Gold's Gym Cardio Workout is a great way to maintain and practice proper form, get a great workout at home, and have fun.

While a Wii controller can be "fooled" by using motions similar to throwing a punch, this game can be an incredible full-body workout if the punches are thrown correctly and you actually duck and weave. For those who are serious, focus on the following two items:

(1) Not hyperextending your elbow/arm when throwing a punch. Always keep a slight bend in your elbow.

(2) Picturing your punch - particularly those thrown from your "reverse" (back) hand - as a full-body motion. Power in your punch does not come simply from your arms, but from your legs, your hips/waist, torso, AND arms. All of these areas should move in one fluid motion.

To illustrate, try this: with your right leg back, put your right elbow on your waist with your fist perpindicular (90 degrees) from your body. Now twist your right hip from the back to the front of your body without moving your arm. That "punch" is power developed from your hips alone! Add that to power from the actual "punching" motion of your arm and your legs, and you have more power than from the punching motion alone. Plus, you are using (and exercising) your full body in the process.

Enjoy your workout! This is a fantastic game and training tool.
